SUQQU Creamy Glow Lipstick Moist in 07 Sangoseki

When it comes to makeup, I follow the rule of one out, one (or several...All hail to consumerism) in. As in the rare case when I am closed to finish one product, I make sure to get at least one replacement. When I was 2/3 way through my Creamy Glow Moist in EX-18 Momosuishou, I knew I need another coral from the brand.

Yeah, I bitched about how it doesn't look too different from Revlon lip butter in Papaya( I do like the shade of Papaya better) but the formula was so kind to my dry lips during winter that I ran through it quickly. It was also around the same time when I discovered my personal litmus test for high end lipsticks: If a formula retains its integrity (not sink deep into my lip lines) during one of our snowpocalyses, it's worth its high end price tag. So far, all the high end Kanebo (Lunasol, Suqqu, RMK and Chicca)plus Bobbi Brown Luxe lip color passed with flying colors. Chanel and YSL are the two pricey ones that failed me.
What I am trying to say (with the wall of text) is that, sometime throwing a big chunk of money in one single lipstick is totally worth it. Especially this glossy black tube is being discontinued. My uneducated guess (don't quote me) is that their contract with designer Yoshioka Tokujin was expiring and they no longer want to pay for fancy design works.

I mean, what kind of people would want to replace the signature minimalist design with a black-gold plastic atrocity? Actually, if you like the current bumblebee lipstick, snatch it up. This fall they are switching back to expensive looking metal tube again (now it just looks like black version of Chicca). Either way, let me enjoy the sight of a pristine bullet rising up, for the one last time.

Back to lipstick review.
Vivid Delight is an eyeliner from NYX (image won't autofocus otherwise). Innisfree Cream Mellow 04 is clearly pinker kind of coral. Sangoseki (literally means coral stone/mineral) is a clear sheer orange with just a tad bit of red. Momosuishou is milky, thicker and with a cream gloss finish.

I have three Suqqu Creamy Glow Moist and they all are different from each other. No.13 Akanebara was harder, balmy and wears like a soft stain while 07 Sangoseki is (still glossy) lighter, thinner and with a slightly watery slip. I do like it quite a bit even though it yields less color on the lips.
In a way, this is another one of those expensive lip balms. I believe I only paid 32  bucks for it, so not bad at all and it's so much better than other Western high end brands.

  1. I love Sangoseki and briefly considered getting a backup, but then I also have way too many lipsticks ^.^ The color is lovely on you!

    1. I don't get backup any more...because towards the end of the makeup item's lifespan (if i get that far at all) I would have found something I like just as much...
